A memory is a photograph taken by the heart...to make a special moment last forever...and of all the memory-pictures that happy times can bring, the best are those that families make together ~

Mom's Christmas Tree Jewels ~ Memory Count Down ~ Day 3

ca 1950's or possibly early 1960's?

I do not know the exact year mom (1933~ 2010) brought this ornament home but I remember it always being on the tree as far back as I can remember. When I hung it on the tree this year, I noticed that you can still feel faux spray snow on the surface that mom used on our trees over the years! Part of the glitter/sparkle out-line around the pattern is wearing off after years of use and the original hook is still attached. I carefully hung this ornament . . . the old hooks don't hold as well and I was afraid it would fall off . . . somehow I would like to leave it in it's original condition but use a hook that would secure it to the tree better. This ornament was so typical of my mom and her style.

  2. Thank you, Carol, it's a nice way of remembering, honoring and recording our Christmas memories. This isn't even touching on what my mom still has in boxes! She had cabinets built in her garage that line one entire wall (long wall) that is filled with just Christmas decorations. So many from Germany, from when we first came here and what she has collected over the years and up until she passed. It's amazing and overwhelming but beautiful. I haven't been able to get what is still in her garage but eventually I will. Not sure how I am going to store or show all of that!
