ca ~ 1950's
I believe this ornament (one of several that are similar) is as old as I am . . . as far back as I can remember, it's been on every Christmas tree we have had and it is one of my favorites. The design and paint has worn off a bit here and there and around the top, it has become discolored over time. When I removed this ornament from it's spot in mom's Christmas treasure box and held it in my hands . . . so many wonderful Christmas memories filled my heart and how Blessed I am to have this wonderful gift.
~ Happy Holidays ~
Moms today ornament is really a pretty one.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Betty, it's so old! Each time I handle these ornaments, I am scared I will drop them and break one . . . well it happened. At first I was going to throw it away, but then, I decided to keep them (I broke two) and crunch them into little pieces . . . I then poured the chard's into a clear glass ornament that you can get at the craft store. It really looks pretty. When I get it done, I will post it here. I was so upset at first but it's one way to still keep the ornament and memory too. I'm still mad at myself!
ReplyDeleteI have one of these ornaments from my mom's collection too! :-) I don't have as many of my mom's ornaments as you do of yours but I treasure the few I have. I look forward to seeing what else you have in your collection.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like the Christmas tree ornaments I remember from my early childhood; I am always looking for ornaments with identations like this one. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jasia and Greta ~ These ornaments sure bring back alot memories. I wish I would have asked mom more questions about them. As I post each one, I would love to know more of the history of it but I am very fortunate to have them regardless.
