A memory is a photograph taken by the heart...to make a special moment last forever...and of all the memory-pictures that happy times can bring, the best are those that families make together ~

Close to me ~

My Aunt Ginnie gave me this "mother and daughter" holding each other sculpture, when my mom passed away in July, 2010. It has a very personal meaning for me, a little reminder...a reflection...a gesture that marks a memory of mom and I, so perfectly.

The little card that comes with it that is sitting in front of this piece, is very hard to read (I really need to work on my lighting techniques!) but this is what it says...

Close to me
Apart or together, always close to me

Willow Tree, by Susan Lordi

This piece sits on my roll top desk, and all I have to do is look-up each day, and smile...

  1. Oh Gini! That is the sweetest thing...how quickly that brought tears to my eyes! It is lovely!

  2. Thank you Lisa...I really do love this little sculpture..I actually received two...the mother and daughter and then an Angel...love the
Willow tree line...they are amazing. When I got this one...it really hit home...it's so mom and I and it really touches my heart.

  3. Gini,

I have been going through some of my mothers 'stuff' of late, as you may know. But, what a great picture and image you have here.

    Thank you for sharing.

  4. Thank you Russ...I know what you mean...I am doing the same.

I have a long way to go on my photography skills, but it's fun learning!

  5. So nice that you can look up each day at it, I surround myself with special pieces too, so I can glance and look and remember and smile and feel the peace.

  6. It is a nice feeling Carol...I have done the same...Mom and Oma are always all around me, and like you...it brings a sense of peace.

  7. What a nice gesture by your aunt and wonderful that you can look and reflect on it often.
