A memory is a photograph taken by the heart...to make a special moment last forever...and of all the memory-pictures that happy times can bring, the best are those that families make together ~

Gini's Family Tree ~

This is my new family tree chart created by Janet Hovorka, the Owner and Operator at Family ChartMasters, that I purchased while I was at at the 2011 SCGS Jamboree in Burbank, CA, a few weeks ago . . . thank you, Janet, I love it! Janet creates very beautiful charts . . . it was difficult to choose a background, there are so many beautiful ones to pick from. I plan to hang it just above my desk . . . not only is it neat to look at . . . it's an easy reference while researching . . . I love looking up and seeing all of my Ancestors there.

Mom's Face in Space ~ Endeavour lands ~

The Space Shuttle Endeavour completed its STS-134 mission and landed at 2:35 EDT early morning today - at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. So glad their mission was safe and successful . . . congratulations to the flight crew. I was excited when I was able to print mom's Face in Space program Flight Certificate that I had entered for her on her "first birthday in Heaven" in March . . . the printed copy will be placed in her binder and mom's beautiful face in space will forever be a part of history.

My Mother ~

~ My Mother ~
 ~ by Lacie, my daughter
Penned in Calligraphy by, Lacie ~ 1995 ~ 1997 (completed in 1997)

My mother lifts me up when i'm down
She helps put a smile on my face instead of a frown
My mother is very understanding
even when i'm angry and a little demanding
My mother helps me through rough times
My mother is stronger than the strongest pine
My mohter was there when no one else was
My mother does the sweetest things, just because
though at times we argue and fight
i thank God she is my mother every night
i love it when its just us two
we sit and talk about things we used to do
when i'm sick i always get a cup of tea
My mother can mend a broken heart or heal a scraped knee
My mother helps me choose the right path to take
and she didn't even get mad when some of her things
would "accidentally" break
i love my mother with all my heart
And hope to God we'll never part
i know sometimes i'm mean and disrespectful
but to her i will be forever thankful
She stands by my side even when im a little immature
i will always be there for my mother, even if there was
no one left in this world, it wouldn't matter, we
would still have each other . . .
  Love ~
Lacie

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My daughter, Lacie, started to write this poem for me in 1995 . . . she then put pen to paper in calligraphy and completed it in 1997 . . .when she was just 17 years old.  I was so touched when she gave this to me and have cherished it since. This framed poem has been hanging in our family hallway photo gallery since then.
Happy Mother's Day ~
Flowers for Mom and Oma . . . placed on their graveside today for Mother's Day ~
137th Kentucky Derby ~
In the spirit of the 137th Kentucky Derby and my Kentucky ancestors . . .  I took a photo of a 2008 commemorative 134th Kentucky Derby drinking glass given to me by my aunt  in Kentucky. In 2008, I traveled for the first time to Kentucky to meet my paternal aunt. We had no idea each other existed until I started to research my family history.  When I saw this beautiful state . . . where most of my paternal ancestors lived and died, I feel in love with Kentucky and I could fell my deep roots there.   I am also a member of the Kentucky Historical Society . . . I just received my Spring 2011 issue today . . . the two go well together.
~ Congrats Animal Kingdom on your winnings ~
Johnny Jump-ups and weeds gone wild ~
Our (granddaughter and I) Johnny Jump-ups have grown out of control! At one time, I had Chamomile tea planted in with the Johnny Jump-ups, the little flowers on the Chamomile plants have been and are usually white and yellow . . . the little flowers are now purple and look similar to the same flower as the Chamomile . . . so, I don't know if the little purple flowers are weeds or if I have created a new Chamomile species! They are still very cute and now, I have some tidying up to do . . . after doing some quick research, I really think they are just weeds.
Hyacinth bean vine ~
This is some of  the last blooms of the Hyacinth bean vine for Spring.  The vine actually belongs to my neighbor but grows up, over and down on my side of the fence so I get to enjoy them too . . . I love the purple color. I have been using my little Canon PowerShot SX120is lately due to being on the go more.  So this photo was actually taken on the 2nd of May with my Canon EOS Rebel XSi . . .I forgot I had taken a series of photos with my Rebel and this photo was on that camera . .  . so here I am sharing this one today.
My hanging heart plate ~
I have a small collection of these plates hanging on my dining room wall. This is the only heart shaped plate in the collection, which is my favorite . . . the remainder are round. This was the only object that sort of called out to me for my photo of the day. No color, but it was one of those days that I struggled with finding something of interest to photograph.
Letters, notes and cards ~
I love to write letters and cards to family and friends, which I have gotten away from in the last few years.  I have had this little collection of books for many years. I use them as a reference when I am lost for words . . . make calling cards . . .  or, when I make my handmade cards . . . and, they just look pretty sitting on my antique roll top desk.
Allergies galore ~
The yellow flowers in this photo are growing on the hill behind my backyard fence. All of us who have allergies are really having a difficult time . . . part of Spring we don't look forward to. They are neat to look at though . . . this is only a small section in our backyard . . . to the left of this photo, they grow along our entire property line.
The Royal Wedding ~
I took both of these photos from both of my TV's (had two different channels going in separate rooms!) as I watched the Royal Wedding . . .the photo below did this all on it's own (I did zero editing . . . as the scene was changing, I must have caught it at the right time)! I was very surprised how well it came out. Out of 161 photos, only seven came out clear and worth posting here. You can tell what I was doing all morning . . . hey, it's history in the making!
Well I admit it, I am a Royal Family buff . . . I have always loved just about anything regarding the Royal Family and the British Monarchy history. It is said that I am related to King George and King Henry VIII, but that is not the only reason I have always had an interest in this family . . . I just think the history is fascinating. I have watched  Showtimes: The Tudors Series. It's very "racy" but I watched it anyway and when I followed the Tudor family tree and read the history on the Official British Monarchy site, the series was very true to their family history. One hundred years from now, this wedding will be such wonderful part of the Royal Family's history. . . that's the family historian in me! It was a beautiful wedding.
Framed perfume bottles ~
When visiting with friends in Lake Havasu City, AZ, I purchased this framed art while there . . . I fell in love with it!  Originally the price was quite high . . . in the upper twenties . . . lucky for me it was on sale and I walked out of the store paying only $7.99 for it! That was the find of the month for me.
Flower's for Gini ~
My dear friend and neighbor, cut these lovely roses from her garden and brought them over for me . . . they are so pretty and they smell wonderful . . . I placed them on my computer desk at home, so I can enjoy them as I sit here! Thank you, Cal!  Our neighborhood has an incredible variety of roses that are blooming all over right now.
New Hydrangea bloom ~
Photo from my garden
Pink Hydrangea
by Rainer Maria Rilke
( translation: Walter Arndt )
Who thought such pink could be? Who knew it there
Accumulating in each blushing cluster?
Like gilded things which by and by unluster
They gently grow unred as if from wear.
That one should give such rosiness out free!
Does it stay theirs still, smiling where it went?
Are angels there to take it tenderly like a scent?
Or, it may be, they only let it go
That it might never learn of overblowing.
Beneath this pink there lurked a greenness, though,
Which listened and now fades away, all knowing.
Baby Shower Bingo ~
My niece, Alisha, is expecting her baby in June. At her baby shower, we played several games and Baby Shower Bingo was one of them...and no, I did not win. I was on in two different rows but didn't make it. I am not much for games at showers or parties, but I do have to say this one was fun and wasn't too bad. It was nice to be together with family and chat about memories of days long ago. The lighting in the room and not using a flash was a little challenging to take photos.
Babysitting the grandkids ~
Last weekend, I had five of my grandkids at once! The house got a bit crazy but as you can see, they kicked their shoes off, and dug right into playing and hanging out at Oma's. Ethan loves his race cars! His daddy races at Autocross just about every other weekend.
