A memory is a photograph taken by the heart...to make a special moment last forever...and of all the memory-pictures that happy times can bring, the best are those that families make together ~

Congratulations, Patriots! ~

Last Saturday, my grandson's Pop Warner football team, the Patriots, played their last game and tonight was their trophy party! What an awesome team they are. Each team player received a trophy and celebrated with pizza, cake and soft drinks.

Each one of the boys took a turn signing a football for each one of the four coaches that lead this team thru a great season and the boys gave my daughter, the team mom, a $35.00 gift card to Target. Congratulations, Patriots . . . you rock!!

A little sign of Fall ~

My daughter gave me this wonderful smelling Pineapple-Mango scented candle and Silver Maple Leaf metal sleeve, for my birthday (love candles). I plan on changing the Summer scent to a Fall scent like, Autumn or Caramel Apples perhaps, so many to pick from!  ~ I am very much looking forward to Fall ~ one of my most favorite seasons ~ and it's not so hot.

The "Past is Present" Photo Challenge ~

My daughter on her first day of school at our front door Then and Now, she will be teaching children in 2011.

My daughter on her first day of school in 1987, at our front door.

Our front door today in 2011

This was not an easy project to do, I do now know what, Vickie, at Photos by BeNotForgot was experiencing! This was the best out of many photos I took in every way I could muster . . .  and with two different Canon cameras. This will take a bit more practice but for now, I am using this one for the photo challenge  The Past is Present: Genealogy Photo Challenge For World Photography Day that, Denise Levenick issued to us geneabloggers, genealogists, and family historians on her blog, The Family Curator.

Here's how you can participate ~

The Family Curator is issuing a challenge to geneabloggers, genealogists, and family historians! Celebrate genealogy and family history for World Photography Day August 19 by combining the past and present in a photograph. You might want to recreate an old photo or bring the past to the present day in DearPhotograph style.
Post your photograph with descriptive caption on your blog and send the link to The Family Curator no later than 6am PST 15 Aug 2011. I will post a round-up article of contributions on or before August 19, World Photography Day.
Get creative and have fun!

Lacie Graduates ~ Congratulations!

~ Card from Lacie's Uncle Bob and Aunt Cassandra ~

Today has been a very exciting and wonderful day . . . my daughter, Lacie, graduated from San Diego State University today . . . Congratulations, Lacie we are so very proud of you!

Lacie received her Degree Of Bachelor Of Arts ~ Applied Arts and Sciences today . . . she will be taking a summer break and then starting her Credentials in the Fall . . . it is her goal to complete her Credentials and continue on to receive her Masters.  She has worked very hard and we are very excited for her future, she would like to teach English Literature to middle school aged children.  After the graduation ceremony, we celebrated with a big breakfast at the Omelette Factory.  I took quite a few photos but it was a challenge to capture clear photos and ones that were light enough to see . . . most came out very dark and blurred . . . needless to say, I was very disappointed and realized I have a lot of learning to do when it comes to my Canon Rebel camera! Once the ceremony started, it was very dark in the arena and I was having a difficult time. I have several more photos and items to scan to add to her photo album. If you click on the link under the second photo, you are able to see a bit of her graduation. I kept any photos of the grandchildren private but they were so very proud of their mom!

Congratulations to the Class of 2011!

My Mother ~

~ My Mother ~
 ~ by Lacie, my daughter
Penned in Calligraphy by, Lacie ~ 1995 ~ 1997 (completed in 1997)

My mother lifts me up when i'm down
She helps put a smile on my face instead of a frown
My mother is very understanding
even when i'm angry and a little demanding
My mother helps me through rough times
My mother is stronger than the strongest pine
My mohter was there when no one else was
My mother does the sweetest things, just because
though at times we argue and fight
i thank God she is my mother every night
i love it when its just us two
we sit and talk about things we used to do
when i'm sick i always get a cup of tea
My mother can mend a broken heart or heal a scraped knee
My mother helps me choose the right path to take
and she didn't even get mad when some of her things
would "accidentally" break
i love my mother with all my heart
And hope to God we'll never part
i know sometimes i'm mean and disrespectful
but to her i will be forever thankful
She stands by my side even when im a little immature
i will always be there for my mother, even if there was
no one left in this world, it wouldn't matter, we
would still have each other . . .
  Love ~
Lacie

My daughter, Lacie, started to write this poem for me in 1995 . . . she then put pen to paper in calligraphy and completed it in 1997 . . .when she was just 17 years old.  I was so touched when she gave this to me and have cherished it since. This framed poem has been hanging in our family hallway photo gallery since then.

Happy Mother's Day ~

Flowers for Mom and Oma . . . placed on their graveside today for Mother's Day ~
Love & miss you both ~
