A memory is a photograph taken by the heart...to make a special moment last forever...and of all the memory-pictures that happy times can bring, the best are those that families make together ~

Our Hands ~

Photos of our hands taken in April 2008

This photo displays four generations of our hands . . . in the first photo within the frame from left to right (clockwise) is . . . my daughter, myself, my granddaughter and my beautiful mom. In the second photo within the frame and clockwise is . . . my granddaughter, my beautiful mom, myself and my 82 year old, aunt Ginnie in Kentucky.  I got the idea from an email I received several years ago about Grandma's Hands, as I explained and posted  ~ here ~  . . . now that my mom has passed, I am so grateful for having this photo and to have it hanging in my home where I see it each day. Each time I look at it, I look at her hands and it reminds me that at one time those hands . . . comforted me . . .  held me . . . touched my cheek and helped me thru so much . . . I just recalled a time when I had on a dress with a petticoat underneath (my First Communion), mom loved candles and somehow I got too close to the candle and my petticoat caught on fire . . . mom used her hands to put that fire out and were burned very badly, I remember that day very clearly and felt so bad that she was in so much pain . . . how blessed I was to have such a wonderful loving and strong mom.  If you can, take the opportunity to photograph the hands in your family . . . it's a priceless treasure.

  3. This absolutely brought a lump to my throat... It reminds me of the different generations looking into the mirror in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding".

  5. Gini, today's post brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful idea. Wish I would be able to include my Gram in a photo like this. On Friday I am off for a surprise visit to see my Mom, I will have to at least capture the three generations that will be together.

  7. Terri, I did not have my Oma's (grandma's) either, in fact when my mom went back to Germany for my Oma's services in April 2010, she found a photo of my Oma's hands making German noodles, she has flour all over them, I find them so precious and that I have a photo of her hands but they are not included with ours. I so wished her hands were with ours but she was in Germany and we were here so that photo that mom gave me had to do. Maybe someday I will Photoshop them together. Do take a photo of the generations you have here, I know you will treasure it.
