Pineapples and Roses ~ Guest post by my grandson ~

My grandson's daddy, is a professional photographer . . . I think my eight year old grandson inherited his dad's gift! Ethan is using an older digital camera . . . a Canon EOS20D,  that his dad just recently gave him and was no longer using. We decided to take a "photo" walk in the neighborhood this morning and capture flowers or whatever came our way. One of our neighbors was out washing his car and invited us to photograph the many plants and flowers he had in his backyard . . . turned out to be a photo goldmine and a great place for both of us to practice.

We both took lots and lots of photos . . . our neighbor must have had every plant and flower under the sun. We took as many as we could and Ethan is excited to share some of his photos. As time permits, I will share both our photos here. Ethan even created his photo logo . . . you can see it in the lower right corner of his photo above. He took some pretty awesome photos.

This was my very favorite flower in our neighbors yard (besides his vintage roses) that I took with my new Canon EOS Rebel T3i 600. My older Rebel died on me (which is in part why I haven't posted on my photo blog for a while) . . . I was told it needs a new motherboard and I might go ahead and have it fixed for my granddaughter down the road but I am loving this new camera!

3 Musketeers ~

 

This is the last of our Halloween candy . . . my grandson pointed out to me that there are only three of the "3 Musketeers" left . . . made me laugh!  I'm glad too that this is the last of the candy . . . too tempting.

Congratulations, Patriots! ~

Last Saturday, my grandson's Pop Warner football team, the Patriots, played their last game and tonight was their trophy party! What an awesome team they are. Each team player received a trophy and celebrated with pizza, cake and soft drinks.

Each one of the boys took a turn signing a football for each one of the four coaches that lead this team thru a great season and the boys gave my daughter, the team mom, a $35.00 gift card to Target. Congratulations, Patriots . . . you rock!!

Easy Rider ~

My grandson's battery operated Harley motorcycle . . . now he can (play) ride around with grandpa!   

Lego Arachnid ~

My Lego crazed grandson built this spider for my photo of the day . . . this was built from a set he received as a gift on his seventh birthday party last Saturday. The kid is very creative!

Happy Birthday, Ethan ~

Instead of cake, we had chocolate and vanilla cupcakes . . . Of course, I had to have one of the chocolate ones! Ethan's seventh birthday party turned out great and the kid made out like a bandit in the Lego department!

Football fundraiser success ~

My grandson's, Pop Warner Football league fundraiser, was a total success today! We sold all but fourteen of the seventy-seven caramel apples we made yesterday! Those fourteen will be the teams half-time snack next week on practice day. There were professional team photos taken, pie smashing contests, snow cone and food booths and a great "DJ" playing some good music for everyone . . . Patriot's rock!

We bought $20.00 worth of these tickets for the various amazing gift baskets raffle . . . we didn't win one of the great baskets but that is okay, the day was a total success for the fundraiser, we all had fun and that's what counted most. Now, to cool down a little bit of a sunburn I acquired today . . . . you would think I would know better.

Caramel apples ~

My daughter, granddaughter, a friend and myself, spent the entire day making these caramel apples to sell at a  fundraiser tomorrow for my six year old grandson's football team.  It's a messy deal and alot of work making these (oh, and lots of M&M's were eaten too)! After all of them were made, we wrapped them in cellophane and tied them with ribbons in team colors . . . go Patriots! . . . now, I am off to clean the kitchen!

Ready for football ~

My daughter loves football and her favorite team is the, Houston Texans . . . she walked in with her new outfit today and ready for football season to begin! She is also team mother for our six year old grandson's football team . . . the Patriots . . . getting him started early.

In-line skateboard ~

My six year old grand son came over with this new and trending In-line Skateboard. Oma is NOT liking it at all . . . he is learning to ride it and I don't want to see him get hurt. I guess Oma has to let go but I would rather he learn while he is with his mom and dad! He, of course, is very excited about it!

Ready . . . Set . . . Go ~

The photo above was going to be yesterday's photo-of-the-day until the stolen Jeep photo took it's place. My grandson's daddy races his car at Autocross and my grandson brought over his checkered flag to show me how he has become quite the flagman waving it at the start/finish line . . . he's pretty good!

Surprise toy parrot ~

I find my grandson's toys in the oddest places! I started to water my Potho plant and found this little surprise waiting for me under the leaves . . . where it's been hidden for who knows how long! My grandson is quite the character.

More flowers for Oma ~

Summer play ~

My grandson enjoyed riding his bike in our cul-de-sac early this afternoon and before it got too warm out. He is into BMX bike riding already at his age (six) . . . just like his dad . . . hmmm . . . Oma not liking it so much!

Morning tea party ~

I did a very small impromptu tea party for the grand-kids this morning! My granddaughter has a friend over and I thought it was a nice way for them to wake up and start their morning. I made cinnamon toast and the girls chose peach tea . . .  an interesting combination . . . my grandson preferred cinnamon-apple tea. My kitchen smells wonderful!

Lego Snap Trap Hawk ~

My six year old grandson made this neat Lego Snap Trap Hawk for my photo of the day. The little green Lego sticking out in the front is a machine gun! Great job, sweetie.

Lego clean-up

My six year old grandson loves his Lego toys as I had shared in my post here. This photo shows only a very small portion of what he keeps here at my home and it's a lot . . . he decided to do a bit of sorting, cleaning and reorganizing so he can build bigger and better structures. I had Lego toys all over my living room floor! He has quite a collection including Harry Potter, Pirates, Dragons and many others over at his mom and dad's home. He has mentioned that when he grows up, he wants to work for Legoland as an architectural designer, he wants to build models and rides . . . watch out Legoland!

Tornado in a bottle ~

My six year old grandson just completed the Mad Science after-school program this week. With all of the tornadoes that have been happening through-out many of our states, his class did a hands on project, teaching the children about tornado producing-thunderstorms and what causes them. Out of 52 photos, this was the only one that came out clear enough to show the little tornado inside! The children used glitter and a salt water solution inside the little bottle and then glued the top on. It's pretty neat to watch. My grandson really enjoyed the Mad Science after-school program and was sad that it ended . . . its fun and educational at the same time . . . the teachers wear lab coats and look like scientists.  I would love to be in that class!
